William Lamar

William Frank Lamar Sr., 72, of Abilene went to be with the Lord on October 11, 2023.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 15, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home (5701 US Hwy 277 S., Abilene, TX 79606). The graveside service celebrating his life will be held on Monday, October 16, at 1:00 p.m. at Elliott-Hamil as well.

William was born November 13, 1950 to Rupert and Peggy Lamar in Abilene. William is survived by his wife Monie, two sons Drew Lamar and wife Carrie, of Weatherford, Taylor Lamar and wife Lindsey, of Abilene, daughter Jennifer Brandt, of Abilene, fourteen grandchildren Alexis, Madison, Hunter, Trinity, Bailey, Hayden, Hudson, Holden, Baylor, Emma, Abbey, Maycie, Laikyn, Brycen, four great grandchildren, and brother David Lamar, of Abilene.

He attended Cooper High School. Following graduation, he moved to Dallas where he worked in route sales. He later returned to Abilene where he continued to work in route sales and in the furniture refinishing business, until owning and operating The Yo Yo Factory unfinished furniture store. After many years in the furniture business, he went to work for AISD where he was still employed until his passing.

His greatest joys included spending time with his family, entertaining grandkids, telling stories, music, and old cars. He loved attending his grandkids activities and sporting events, and his days coaching youth baseball for his sons.

He was preceded in death by his parents Rupert and Peggy Lamar, father-in-law James Howell, and son William Lamar Jr.

Carol Kennedy (Hightower)

William was a close and dear friend when we all first moved to the DFW area..  He was a sweet man.  I got to spend some time with him at our 40th reunion.  I am so sorry to hear of his passing.
