Aside from being one of our multiple room mates in our "Austin Roadhouse" in the early 70s, I saw a lot of Jimmy before his death. He was living in Corsicana and married to Jenny. Jimmy had chronic liver complications and was dying after rejecting a transplant. One of my favorite moments was not long before he passed he told me he had never been to a Rangers game. So I took him to a Rangers game with Nolan Ryan pitching. He was like a kid.... We had a blast.
I sat vigil with him, Jenny, and their daughter Jennifer during his last days @ Baylor Hospital.
I loved this guy! A true friend and a great date to my Senior Prom! Once a Lincoln Longhorn......... always a Lincoln Longhorns! The rest of you guys were just our sidekicks!!!
