I think I first met Jimmy in 4th grade at Taylor Elementary. He sat behind me and I remember how well he could draw. He told me a joke one day that we laughed about for years. It was about a man selling laundry detergent. He claimed it would make clothes look, feel, and smell better. To demonstrate how well it worked, he washed a load of dirty diapers. (Remember when they weren’t disposable?) He put the soap in and wishey-washey, wishey-washey went the washing machine. After washing them he said, see how white they look? See how soft they feel? See how… wishey-washey, wishey-washey. Ok, so it was funny to grade-schoolers back then. After that we’d just have to say wishey-washey or do the hand motions to crack each other up.

I have just posted on my site some exchange pictures and a Dormitory List of room assignments on the trip. Jim was in the middle of the picture. I wonder if there is anyway that I could pass along some of these pictures to his relatives. The one thing that I do remember was that great smile of his. We miss you, Jim.

Jim was such a sweet soul. And talent - he had enough for 2 people!
