Lubbock - Vern Sutterfield Jr., 68, of Lubbock passed away Sunday, May 5, 2019 in Lubbock. He was born March 16, 1951 in Sweetwater, Texas. Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements by Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield.

Carol Kennedy (Hightower)
Vern and I went to school together in Sweetwater and then again at Johnston. As I remember, his Mother died when he was very young. He, Bobby Evans and I sang in our Senior Follies. I haven’t seen him in many years but remember a sweet young man. Rest In Peace, my friend.

Vern was married to my sister for several years. Their son Cody is a really good Dad and person. Vern was a Golden Gloves boxer and won the state championship one year. I forgot the year and what his weight division was. He was a very good athlete. He will be sorely missed by all.
