Travis Ray Smith, beloved husband, father, and dedicated rancher, passed away on August 15, 2023, at the age of 72. He was born on March 2, 1951, to Raymond and Arvena Smith in Crockett, Texas. Travis spent his formative years in Abilene, Texas, where he attended school and later completed a year of studies at Abilene College.

On April 1, 1989, Travis embarked on a new chapter in his life, uniting in marriage with Suellen Sharp in a heartfelt ceremony in Kerens, Texas. Their love story was one of strength and companionship that would last for decades. Together, they shared a life rich with experiences and built a family that would forever be their pride and joy.

Travis and Suellen were blessed with four wonderful children: Clinton, Clayton, Jessica, and Anjuli. Travis was not only a father to his children, but also a mentor, guide, and friend, instilling in them the values of hard work, integrity, and compassion.

Travis was known throughout his life for his tireless work ethic. His dedication to the ranching profession was unwavering, and he earned a reputation as a diligent and determined worker. His commitment to his responsibilities was an inspiration to those who had the privilege of knowing him. Travis's enduring legacy is a testament to his character and the mark he left on the land he cared for so deeply.

Throughout his life, Travis and his family lived in various places, from Kerens, Texas, to Laverne, Oklahoma, Canadian, Texas, and Arnett, Oklahoma. These locations provided a canvas for the family to make memories, grow, and create a life filled with shared experiences.

Travis Ray Smith will be remembered not only for his strong work ethic and dedication to his family, but also for his kind heart, warm smile, and willingness to help others. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, love, and a commitment to family that will continue to inspire generations to come.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Gloria Fisher.

He is survived by his loving wife Suellen Smith of the home, his children Paul Smith of Abilene, TX, Clint Smith of Canadian, TX and his daughters Shyann and Kassidy Smith, Clay Smith of Amarillo, TX and his daughter Caitlyn Smith, Jessica Shepherd of Arnett, OK and her son Oden Shepherd, and Anjuli Imke of Arnett, OK and her daughters Eliana and Terryn Imke, as well as aunts, uncles, nephews and numerous extended family members and friends who were touched by his presence.

I remember that big smile.  Very sorry to hear of his passing.

I too remember Travis's big warm smile.  He was just a good guy.  I am not at all surprised that he ended up a rancher.  In elementary once he gave a wood burning sketch of a horse, and it was good. I am glad that he had a good happy life doing what he loved.
