I am sad to hear of Sam's passing.  I knew him from band, and because of our last names, he sometimes sat behind me in classes. He was a good person, and I know he will be missed by all who knew him.  My thoughts and prayers to his family.

I saw Sam last year at our reunion. He was such a cool guy- friendly and generous to everyone. What an honorable life he had. Praying for peace and joy for his family and close friends. He will be missed in many places.

Sam, or Sammy as we called him, was a great friend in high school. We were trumpet players in the band together and he always brought joy to the proceedings. I got to know his daughter when I hired her as a choir director in our district. I'm so glad Sam was at the reunion and we got to catch up a little. I know one thing, the band in heaven just improved immensely when Sammy arrived with his trumpet in tow! RIP, Sammy.

Condolences to Sam's family. I went to school with Sam and knew him since we were kids. I had not seen him since we graduated and I left Abilene. I spoke to him at our 50th graduation reunion.

I am extremely sorry for your loss Adele and Ortiz family ! I pray for healing and peace for all of you. I knew Sammy in Elementary School at Houston with others in the same neighborhood.  May the peace of Christ be with you all now. I have fond memories of Sammy being my dance partner for P.T.A. programs and being taught by Mr. Thornton.  He was definitely a Patriot and served his country well. Gods bless Sammy and May he Rest In Peace.  Yolanda Gutierrez Cates
