I was so very sorry to hear of Gene's passing.   He and I lived down the street from each other and attended Fair Park Elementary together.   We often played at each other's houses after school and on the weekends.
He was a kind, loving boy who grew up to be a kind, loving man.
Although we weren't in close contact over the years I will always think of him fondly.   He will be missed by all who knew him and loved him.

I am so sorry to hear about Gene’s passing.  I first met Harold when we were at Lincoln Junior High and then were classmates all through Abilene High.  While we reconnected over the years at our class reunions, I especially remember going over to his house a few blocks from Abilene High to visit at our 40th reunion and having a great time reconnecting with our classmates many of whom were all staying with him for the weekend!

Gene was very proud of Abilene High and very proud of his family and friends.  He will be greatly missed.

Gene,or Harold , as everyone in school knew him, and I have been friends since 2nd grade at Fair Park, then Lincoln Jr. High, then Abilene High. After graduation we both went into the military, him to the Navy and me to the Army. We lost track of each other after that, but reconnected at the 20 year high school reunion. Became close friends after that. I had moved to Lubbock and Gene stayed in Abilene. When I would come to Abilene for business, we would nearly always go out to dinner.
He was always a very caring person and was an expert in history.  He will be greatly missed

I would like to share a memory of Gene/Harold; when we had the mini reunion in the Austin area Gene came up to me and shared a story about being in my mother's third grade class at Fair Park.  He asked if I had any of my mothers class photos, I answered with no; he was gracious enough to send me one.  The reason I shared this story is because it shows the substance of this individual.  RIP Gene

I am so sorry to hear of Gene's passing.  I was wondering why I had not seen any posts lately from  him on facebook.  Prayers to his family.
