Kaye Hodges (Close)

Kaye Hodges Close, 54, died Friday, August 18, 2006, at her residence in Abilene, Texas.

The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the First Baptist Church Chapel with Rev. Palmer McCown officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory in Abilene.

The daughter of Frances (Thompson) and Marion B. Hodges, Jr., Kaye was born on November 17, 1951, in El Paso, Texas. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1969 and Texas A&M in 1973. She settled in Houston, where she was the treasurer for John Wesley United Methodist Church, and then was an accountant for Scientific Drilling International. She moved back to Abilene in 2004.

She was a loving wife, mother and sports mom, who made time to be involved in her church and community. As an active member of John Wesley United Methodist Church in Houston, she loved to sing in the Chancel Choir at the church.

Survivors include her husband, Fred R. Close of Springfield, Virginia; sons, Brian Close of Little Elm, Texas, and Kyle Close of Houston; her mother, Frances Hodges of Abilene; a sister, Susan Malson and husband, Hunter, of Houston; and an aunt, Hazel Thompson of Abilene.

Kaye will be missed greatly by her family and friends.

Betty Robbins (Fowler)

I first met Kaye at Lincoln Junior High. What I remember most is her wonderful smile.
